Update: Hampton Classic Postpones Opening Day Because of Hurricane Irene
Hurricane Irene! You are ruining everything!!!
The Hampton Classic, one of the showcase events that defines every summer in the Hamptons, will no longer begin on Sunday.
Here is the latest from the Hampton Classic website
Here is an e-mail we received from the Classic. Looks like the show is canceled on Sunday.
There has been an update in the weather forecast. Hurricane Irene is expected to hit eastern Long Island Saturday night and through Sunday with hurricane force winds. We are forced to take the tents and stalls down for safety reasons.
We have decided to cancel the horse show on Sunday, August 28th through Tuesday, August 30th (many classes will be rescheduled for later in the week).
Tuesday, 8/30th will become set-up day and the horse show will continue its schedule starting Wednesday, 8/31 through Sunday, 9/4.
I will be in contact again with any updates. Thank you for your understanding.
Best,
Reyna & Shanette
WEATHER UPDATE: Hampton Classic to start Wednesday, August 31 Unfortunately, the latest projections show Bridgehampton will likely be hit with hurricane force winds on Sunday. The Classic has made the decision to take the tents and stalls down for safety reasons. This will delay the start of the show until Wednesday, August 31. Horses will be able to ship in starting noon on Tuesday, August 30.
We are working on a new time schedule to include Tuesday’s events, the LIHSSRD Finals, and some of Opening Day’s events to take place later in the week. ASPCA Adoption Day will not be held, but a “Virtual ASPCA Adoption Day” will take place on our website. Stay tuned for more information.
