A young boy who is very talented at field hockey and wishes to play for Southampton High School on the Varsity team while he is in the eighth grade, has been denied the ability to do so.
The 13-year-old, who learned how to play field hockey in Ireland, is not giving up without a fight, and may be seeking legal action in order to be allowed to play.
Section XI, which is the governing body behind high school sports in Suffolk County, is saying that because he is so good and a top scorer, he may be preventing all girls teams from making it into the playoffs.
