The Supervisor of the Town of Southold, Scott Russell, spearheaded a program where the Town issued a bond specifically for the purchase by the Town of family farms with the purpose of perpetually preserving farmland and farming in the Town of Southold. This program allowed for the sale of Horton Lane Farm to a purchaser who plans on starting a blueberry farm there. Town and Country Real Estate procured the buyer of Horton Lane Farm.
