The Southampton Historical Museum is hosting its 3rd Annual “Insider’s View” home tour offering an exclusive look into extraordinary private homes featuring unique architectural history and decor representing Colonial times to the present.
The tour boasts six private residences ranging from a pond side 17th century miller’s home to a 21st century Shingle Style village classic designed by architect Kitty McCoy.
Among the highlights this year is a 1910 beach house perched on a Watermill dune. This ultimate seaside retreat has been featured in such films as Something Borrowed, Something Blue and Something’s Gotta Give. Its crisp, sun-drenched interior reflects the signature artistry of the sculptress/owner. The “Russian Green” house was originally built by a famous decorator, fashion icon, editor and author. Its mix of eclectic treasures and vibrant colors leaves one wanting; and should not be missed. Also on the tour are a c. 1840 Greek Revival style home, and a house that was moved by Samuel Parrish and renovated by the renowned architect Grosvenor Atterbury.
A champagne reception will follow the May 12 tour at the Rogers Mansion, hosted by Sant Ambroeus Restaurant.
