Writers Beat Artists In East Hampton, Bill Clinton Shows Up To Say Hello
It was a beautiful day, in a beautiful town, for a beautiful day of softball at the Artists Vs. Writers softball game in East Hampton. The Writers beat the Artists 12 to 11 in a game that went into extra innings. Mike Lupica took the mound for the Writers pitching the entire game with Ken Auletta at first base, Carl Bernstein of Watergate fame was playing catcher and even Mark Feuerstein from Royal Pains took a few licks at bat with the Artists along with Nancy Atlas, who sang God Bless America during the 7th inning stretch.
But one of the most exciting parts of the game had absolutely nothing to do with balls and strikes. President Bill Clinton showed up. Bill Clinton, who once umpired the game when he was the Governor of Arkansas, was delighted to be there as the crowd shifted gears from the game to him to take pictures and say hello. Below is a video.
It was a great game. See the full results of the game this week in Dan’s Papers by Kelly Laffey!
