At approximately 5 a.m. on Monday morning, August 13, 2012, officers from the East Hampton Town Police Department were dispatched to the Springs-Fireplace apartments in reference to an assault. Upon arrival they found Ismael Hernandez, 36 years-old, had been stabbed once in the abdomen. First aid was administered at the scene by police officers and first responders and Mr. Hernandez was transported to Southampton Hospital.
Further investigation indicated that Carlos Bedoya of 16 Prospect Blvd., East Hampton, had assaulted Mr. Hernandez outside of the Hernandez residence. Mr. Bedoya was arrested and has been charged with assault in the second degree. He is being held at the East Hampton Town Police Department until his arraignment which is scheduled for Tuesday, August 14, 2012 in the East Hampton Justice Court.
Mr. Hernandez was operated on and is in stable condition.
