9/11 Memorial Events on the East End
September 11 is a day whose significance none of us will ever forget. Here are a few events taking place on 9-11-12 on the East End:
Flag Placing: At Jean Cochran Park in Peconic the public is invited to go to the 9/11 memorial from 5 to 7 p.m, and place a flag provided by the park.
Public Talk And Guided Meditation: From 7 to 8:30 p.m. there will be a public talk and guided meditation conducted by Chandresh Bhardwaj with forgiveness in mind. Joshua’s Place, 30 Sanford Place, Southampton, NY. Fee: $15 per attendee. Contact [email protected] or call (516) 938-9600.
Documentary Showing: At Stony Brook University, at 6 p.m. there will be a a showing of the documentary An American Requiem. Set to be shown in the theater at the West Campus. More info at 631-632-6000.
East Hampton Hook Mill: The Hook Mill will be joined by memebers of The East Hampton Town Chiefs’ Association with speakers and a wreath ceremony at 6 p.m.
Riverhead: At 7 p.m. the public is invited for a gathering at the Corner of Sound Ave. and Thomas Kelly Memorial Drive to show respect and remembrance.
Hampton Bays American Legion: At 6 p.m. the American Legion Hand Aldrich Post #924 on Ponquogue Ave will hold a wreath ceremony and a walk to the Elementary School where the wreath will be placed.
Montauk Point Walk: a 130-mile walk is planned to start on Tuesday at 8:46 a.m. The walk will go all the way to the Ground Zero Memorial in New York City and will make stops along the way. Details and contact information at http://www.skisopenheart.com/strength-and-hope-walk-call-for-help/
