Westhampton Chamber Singers to Play Carnegie Hall
Carnegie Hall will host 30 choral singers from Westhampton Beach High School on Sunday! Led by their director, Eric Rubinstein, the Chamber Singers represent one of six groups that will perform at the famed NYC venue’s Distinguished Concerts International New York event.
The judges were impressed with the young Westhampton singers’ performance, which included a Latin ballad and an up-tempo spiritual song. The group is thrilled with this opportunity to showcase their beautiful voices and take center stage in the big city. They will perform several works by contemporary composer and conductor, Eric Whitacre.
Whitacre is a distinguished composer, conductor, broadcaster and public speaker. In 2012, he won a Grammy for his first album Light & Gold, which became the number one classical album in the U.S. and the U.K. in a week’s time. His second album, also released in 2012, was number one on iTunes and the Billboard classical chart when it came out. He is also well-known for his virtual choir, Lux Aurumque.
Congratulations to our local Westhampton Beach High School students for achieving this awesome accomplishment!
