East Hampton Resident Creates App
Designer/photographer Harvey Appelbaum of East Hampton and New York writer/editor Janel Halpern have created an app for the iPhone after visiting 81 small museums in Manhattan. It’s called “Not the Met” and is filled with information including hours of admission, transportation, exhibitions, fees and more, plus color images of each facility.
As described on its website, Not the Met is an app for people who love museums. “The idea for this app took shape when we saw a long list of New York City museums published by the Cultural Affairs Department of the city of New York. Though we are both lifelong residents of the city, we had not visited most of the museums on the list, nor had we even heard of a good many. This was a surprise to us, and so we decided to do something about it. Out of our two-year weekly experiences visiting 81 smaller museums of New York City came this app.”
