A number of Hamptons notables attended the 2013 New York Women in Communications Matrix Awards Luncheon at Manhattan’s Waldorf-Astoria on Monday, April 22.
Hosted by WE tv, the 2013 Matrix Awards honored Joanna Coles, Editor-in-Chief, Cosmopolitan magazine; Anne Finucane, global strategy and marketing officer for Bank of America; HSN CEO Mindy Grossman, Bonnie Hammer, chairman of NBC/Universal Cable Entertainment Group; Jacki Kelley, CEO of IPG Mediabrands North America and president of Global Clients, UM; Audra McDonald, five-time Tony Award winner, singer and actress; and Kara Swisher, editor, reporter and author. Brash comedian and television star Joan Rivers emceed the event.
The Matrix Awards recognizes exceptional women in the communications and entertainment fields, including advertising and marketing, hardcopy publications and electronic media. At the awards, women at the helm of these organizations in the business, communications and entertainment world receive well-deserved recognition and a day in the spotlight.
A portion of the proceeds from the event is earmarked for the organization’s foundation, which awards about 15-20 scholarships each year to graduating high school seniors and undergraduates, furthering its purpose to cultivate female leaders in the communication field.
Previous Matrix award winners included Hamptons residents and East End visitors Barbara Walters, Meryl Streep, Diane von Furstenberg, Anna Wintour, Cindi Berger, Gayle King, and Martha Stewart.
