Mike Check Performing at Benefit on Saturday
Greenport’s favorite hip hop artist Mike Check and a stellar lineup of music acts are putting on a special concert, Bring Home One of Our Own, at Knights of Columbus in Cutchogue on Saturday. The event will help fund efforts to bring home 32-year-old Greenport resident Terrence Lawrence, who has endured years of difficult rehab for injuries suffered during a devastating head-on motorcycle collision in July of 2010.
Check shared this week that Lawrence’s sister Keasha King needs funds to make her home handicapped accessible (among other expenses) in order to accommodate his everyday needs. Various local businesses have chipped in with to sponsor the event, including Mullen Motors, Lucharitos, Braun Seafood, Claudios, Detailing Inc. and Townsend Manor Inn.
Along with enjoying music by local and New York City acts, including Mike Check & Co., The Locals, J.U.S. Evolution, Julea Ligregni, Kopy Koo and Duece, attendees can participate in a 50/50 raffle, contests, giveaways and delicious local food and libations.
“Greenport Mayor David Nyce has also been very helpful during the process of putting it together,” Check said.
Bring Home One of Our Own is from 7 p.m. to midnight on Saturday, May 18 at Knights of Columbus, 2050 Depot Lane in Cutchogue. This is a 16-and-older event. Tickets are $20 at the door.
