James Lipton Was a Pimp in Paris—Literally
Everybody knows Hamptons resident James Lipton is a “pimp,” but this week the 86-year-old In the Actor’s Studio host revealed he actually ran a bordello in Paris after World War II.
The New York Post reports that Lipton was a Paris hustler during the 1950s and found his way into the skin trade after befriending a prostitute. “Paris was different then, still poor. Men couldn’t get jobs and, in the male chauvinist Paris of that time, the women couldn’t get work at all. It was perfectly respectable for them to go into le milieu,” he told the Post.
Lipton said running the bordello and working with prostitutes helped him survive for a year in Paris. Before that he was “penniless,” the Post reports.
There’s got to be a book deal in the works.
