Nacho Figueras Polo Event Benefits Robin Hood Foundation
This past Sunday a charity polo match was held for the Robin Hood Foundation in Water Mill. Hosted by the private Equuleus Polo Club owned by Diana and Joseph DiMenna, 350 guests came to support the cause dressed in their daytime finest. Attendees included the corporate and social worlds’ biggest players, such as fashion designer Donna Karan, her daughter and restaurateur Gabby Karan de Felice, Michael Evans of Goldman Sachs and Robin Hood Foundation Executive Director David Saltzman.
The brainchild of sexy polo player Nacho Figueras, this second annual polo match benefiting the Robin Hood Foundation funds more than 200 non-profits with the hope to eliminate poverty in New York.
Credit Suisse Group AG and St. Regis Hotels & Resorts sponsored the teams, and Nacho, Joseph DiMenna, and their St. Regis team won the match. Between corporate and private donations, and the $1,000 price tag per ticket, the match raised more than $600,000.
The event also featured a Robin Hood Foundation “Lemonaid” stand. Run by adults and kids, the charitable lemonade stand provided information on the organization and kits explaining how to set up your own stand to get involved. Some of the Foundation’s stands don’t have specific prices, which allows for generous donations. Over about the last decade, these Lemonaid Stands have raised $1 million and given children the opportunity to help other kids who are less fortunate.
