Woman Says Mort Zuckerman Totaled Her Car in East Hampton
A Quogue woman is out a car and $4,000 after her parked Ford Fusion was rear-ended by real estate and media tycoon Mort Zuckerman in East Hampton Village last month, according to The East Hampton Star.
Charlene Peele, who manages the East Hampton Starbucks, was at work August 11 when Zuckerman veered off Main Street and into her car, the New York Post reports. He reportedly left a note before driving off to his village beachfront mansion. A week later, Zuckerman played through the pain of a cracked rib at the annual Artists and Writers Softball Game at Herrick Park in East Hampton, where he was the Writers’ starting pitcher, The Star reported, though it was unclear if the injury had anything to do with the accident.
Peele eventually got put in touch with Zuckerman’s insurance company, which she said offered her $13,055 for the car — while she still owed $17,700, according to the Post. While Peele has said she does not hold the insurance company’s alleged actions against Zuckerman, the Post certainly revels in the opportunity to knock Zuckerman, the publish of the Post‘s chief competitor, the New York Daily News, no?
