Big Names Will Attend Hamptons Film Fest
The 21st annual Hamptons International Film Festival, coming to East Hampton and Southampton October 10 to 14, boasts a lengthy list of movie and television stars expected to be in attendance.
Renée Zellweger will be on hand to host the presentation of the Golden Starfish Award for Lifetime Achievement to Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, the co-chairs of Working Title Films.
Helena Bonham Carter, who is promoting Burton and Taylor, and Bruce Dern, who stars alongside Will Forte in Nebraska, are the subjects of the 2013 edition of the festival’s “A Conversation With…” series. Forte, of Saturday Night Live fame, is also expected to attend. Nebraska is the Sunday night Centerpiece film
X-Files and Californication star David Duchovny will be at the festival for the world premiere of Louder Than Words, in which he stars alongside Hope Davis as a suburban married couple that endeavors to build a children’s hospital after their daughter’s death.
Spike Jonze, the director of Where the Wild Things Are, Adaptation. and Being John Malkovich, presents his new film, Her, starring Joaquin Phoenix as a man who develops a relationship with his new computer’s operating system.
Long Island native and Entourage star Kevin Connolly will present the documentary he directed, Big Shot, about a scandal surrounding the NHL’s Islanders.
Anna Paquin, of True Blood and the X-Men film franchise, will attend the world premiere of Free Ride, set in the 1970s. Paquin stars in Shana Betz‘s directorial debut as a single mother who gets caught up in the drug trade.
Long Island’s own Ralph Macchio, best remembered for The Karate Kid, will screen his short film Across Grace Alley, which is part of the festival’s Views From Long Island section.
Amy Ryan, who co-stars with Guy Pearce and Felicity Jones in the HIFF Spotlight Film Breathe In, is also expected to attend. Ryan is known for her recurring role on The Office and for several films, including Dan in Real Life and Gone Baby Gone.
HIFF’s 10 Actors to Watch guests include Dane DeHaan, Scott Haze, Jack Huston, Oscar Isaac, Michael B. Jordan, Brie Larsen, Tatiana Maslany, Lupita Nyong’O, David Oyelowo and Léa Seydoux.
Additional stars and filmmakers expected to attend are Ralph Fiennes, Dakota Fanning, Edgar Wright, Timothy Hutton, Richard Curtis, Adepero Oduye, Jonathan Franzen, Paul Dano, Richard Curtis and Joe Wright.
