Now a bi-annual event, occurring in spring and fall each year, Long Island Restaurant Week was designed to garner positive publicity and additional business during a traditionally sluggish period. Due to popularity and demand, the spring edition of the previously autumn-only promotion was launched in 2011 with a 168-participant roster. Last year’s fall 2012 campaign boasted 248 restaurant participants, 134 of which extended the promotion through Sunday, November 18 as a result of Hurricane Sandy.
