Woman Attacked in Tanger Outlets Bathroom
Riverhead police are looking for a man who attacked a 67-year-old woman in a bathroom at the Tanger Outlets.
The woman reportedly told police that when she tried to exit a bathroom stall, a man—who had apparently been hiding in another stall—pushed her back into her stall. The man put an arm around her neck and tried to force her to the floor, police said.
“She was screaming for help when another woman entered the bathroom,” police said. The witness told employees at a nearby store that a woman was being attacked. The attacker fled on foot toward River Road, according to police, who said they searched the area with K-9 units but could not locate the assailant.
The man is described as a young-looking black male, clean shaven, between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-8, slim build and last seen wearing a dark color hoodie.
Police are seeking to speak to the witness who first reported the attack to Tanger workers. She is asked to call detectives as 631-727-4500, as is anyone else with information regarding the incident.
