Police Officers Injured Chasing Down Robbery Suspect
Southampton Town police said several officers were injured during a manhunt for a patron of a Hampton Bays bar who robbed an employee.
Police were called to CB’s Bar & Grill at 4:55 a.m. Sunday on a report of a dispute in progress, according to authorities. Detectives gathered that a man who had patronized the restaurant attacked and robbed an employee who was closing up. Police said that as detectives were investigating, the department began receiving calls about a prowler around Shore Road and East Tiana Road who matched the description of the robbery suspect.
According to police, 29-year-old Lucas Guillen of Hampton Bays tried getting into several homes, leading to the area of Rampasture Point. Then at 7:49 a.m., he was spotted in a yard on Grant Boulevard, but when he was confronted, he refused to surrender and fled, authorities said. A New York Police police K-9 unit was called in, as well as a Suffolk County police helicopter. Officers captured Guillen near the intersection of East Rampasture Road and Hampton Harbor Lane, police said, adding that he had cocaine on him.
Guillen was charged with third-degree robbery, a felony, and third-degree criminal trespass, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest and second-degree obstructing governmental administration, all misdemeanors.
Police withheld the name of the injured officers, and did not specify how many or the nature of their injuries, but did say that they were being treated at local area hospitals. The injuries were said to be non-life-threatening.
