Billy Joel New Year's Eve Tickets Go on Sale Saturday
Sag Harbor’s Billy Joel will perform at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on December 31 in his first solo concert in the five boroughs since the Last Play at Shea in 2008.
Tickets go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. and will likely be sold out by 10:01. Joel’s concert at The Paramount in Huntington in October sold out immediately.
Ben Folds Five will open the New Year’s Eve show. Tickets range from $89 to $239, inclusive of fees. So-called Platinum Tickets, for seats in row 6 and 7, are $1,775 each and only sold in pairs.
Tickets will be available from ticketmaster.com, though secondary market website ticketliquidator.com states that it already has tickets available, ranging from $174 to $15,600 each, and StubHub has tickets listed for as much as $25,000.
Also in December, Joel will be a Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts honoree. On December 8 at the Kennedy Center Opera House in Washington, D.C., Joel and the other honorees will sit with President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama for performances and tributes by their peers. It will be broadcast on CBS December 29 at 9 p.m.
