Cops: Man Hit in Face with Beer Bottle Hospitalized
A Montauk man has been charged with felony assault after hitting another man in the face with a beer bottle during a fight over a woman, according to Southampton Village police.
Police said a 911 caller reported at 3:09 a.m. Thursday that there was a fight in front of 75 Main restaurant on Main Street. The 48-year-old victim was found on the sidewalk covered with blood from a severe facial laceration, police said, and a short time later 25-year-old Victor M. Ortega-Ferrer was found running east on Hampton Road. According to police, Ortega-Ferrer and the second man had an argument inside 75 Main that turned physical, and their fight continued outside the restaurant.
Ortega-Ferrer was arrested at 4:03 a.m. and charged with second-degree assault. He was arraigned and ordered held at Suffolk County jail in Riverside in lieu of $1,500 bail.
The second man was taken by Southampton Village Volunteer Ambulance to Southampton Hospital, where he was treated by a plastic surgeon, police said.
