Gwyneth Paltrow and Michael Kors Collaborate on New Fashion Collection
Hamptonite, actress and People magazine’s most beautiful woman Gwyneth Paltrow has teamed up with fellow Hamptons resident Michael Kors to create a small capsule collection to be sold through Paltrow’s online lifestyle magazine goop.
The line features clothing and accessories inspired by vintage Michael Kors pieces Paltrow has collected and worn through the years, but “re-imagined and modernized” exclusively for goop. It includes sweaters, jackets, trousers, sunglasses, jewelry, a watch, handbag and clutch—all with a subdued and timeless palette of grey, camel, black, brown and gold.
“Michael Kors, designer of great American sportswear, was amenable to my humble request to collaborate,” Paltrow says, describing the collection on her goop website. “I had a dream to tweak/remake some of my favorite MK pieces, which have been in heavy rotation in my closet for years,” she continues, adding, “What I love about them is that they are true investment pieces, tried and tested.”
Like she has for past goop capsule collections (including her collaboration with pal Stella McCartney), Paltrow met with Kors in New York over the summer to discuss the idea of re-imagining some of her favorite among his iconic pieces, and releasing them exclusively through goop.
Together, the pieces emphasize “timeless classics, wardrobe staples and the feminine form,” according to Paltrow’s site, which shares her personal connection to each item in the collection. For example, she tells a story about her grey, minimalist cashmere cape ($2,595):
“For over a decade now, I have had a thick, gorgeous vintage grey cashmere Michael Kors cape, that I always travel with. Funnily enough, I ran into Michael on a flight where he noticed I was rocking his cape, probably in a less chic manner than he would have liked, my six month old daughter and I lay wrapped in it all the way to England.”
The cape and “delphia runway heel” ($595) are already sold out, and it’s likely more will sell out soon. goop suggests U.S. shoppers order from the Michael Kors capsule collection by December 15 if they intend to receive the items by Christmas.
