Riverhead Indoor Farmers Market Debuts Saturday
With the Sag Harbor Farmers Market not returning this winter, Riverhead has stepped in to provide an indoor market for East End growers, fishermen and other vendors.
On Saturday, February 1, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. the market will be open at the former Swezey’s, 117 East Main Street, across the street from Suffolk Theater.
Organizer Holly Browder of Browder’s Birds in Southold said 35 East End purveyors have already signed up to offer up local goods.
A Taste of the North Fork, Long Island Livestock Co., Goodale Farms, Carissa Breads, Merkin Fisheries and the Southampton Soap Company are among the vendors.
The market will be there weekly through May 17. Only locally produced products and food are permitted. To be a vendor, the cost is $25 per week, or $100 for half the season, or $150 for the entire 2014 run. Click here for a registration form.
Topping Rose House in Bridgehampton is also hosting a winter farmers market on a monthly basis.
