Stolen Vehicle Recovered at Scrap Recycling Site; Man Arrested
A pick-up truck that was reported stolen in Riverhead on December 28 was later recovered at Gershow Recycling and now a homeless man has been arrested in connection with the incident, according to police.
Riverhead Town police said Monday that the 2000 Ford F-250 had been parked outside a deli when it was stolen.
After the vehicle turned up at Gershow, an investigation led to 20-year-old Monwell A. Wright, police said. Wright, who police say is homeless, was found on West Main Street during an unrelated incident and taken in custody, then charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a felony.
Wright was arraigned in Riverhead Justice Court and ordered held at the Suffolk County Correctional Facility in Riverside in lieu of bail.
