Top celebrity chef Tom Colicchio is cooking up some wild local game at Topping Rose House in Bridgehampton over the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend. From January 18-20 the destination restaurant and inn will host its first Winter Game Weekend, celebrating the cold season and all the local bounty that comes with it.
The weekend kicks off on Saturday with “Tom’s Winter Feast,” prepared by Colicchio and served in the barn (pictured below), featuring wild game—such as wood pigeon, partridge, duck and venison—along with luxurious ingredients like black truffle and foie gras, and wine pairings from East End vineyard Shinn Estate with each course. The winemaker and Colicchio will also be on hand to chat and mingle after the meal.
The hotel is offering special rates all weekend, and overnight guests are guaranteed a seat at Tom’s Winter Feast, which begins at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Rooms start at $395 per night and Colicchio’s feast costs $195 per person, not including tax and gratuity.
Also on Saturday, January 18, Topping Rose House begins its monthly winter farmer’s market from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The market, which brings together some of the East End’s best shops and purveyors, will run during the same hours every third Saturday during the cold months. Who said farmer’s markets are only for spring, summer and fall? You don’t have to be a guest of the hotel to visit, so make sure to drop by and shop for fabulous and delectable goods, products, foods and wares from local farmers, artists and artisans.
The restaurant at Topping Rose House is open year-round and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, with brunch served on the weekend. In keeping with his other New York restaurants, Colicchio uses the best possible ingredients, and his menu, under the guidance of Chef de Cuisine, Ty Kotz, showcases produce from Topping Rose Farm as well as other local farms, ranches and day boat fishermen who share their commitment to great food.
And don’t miss their newest lunch item! The Flank Steak Sandwich with grilled onions, crispy potatoes and garlic aioli looks like heaven (see photo below).
Topping Rose House is located at One Bridgehampton – Sag Harbor Turnpike in Bridgehampton, 631-537-0870.
