Up to 8 Inches of Snow in Store for East End Monday
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warming for the East End, in effect Monday between 5 a.m. and 7 p.m.
During that time period, between 4 and 8 inches of snow may blanket the Hamptons and the North Fork. According to the weather service, a mix of light rain and snow will change quickly to all snow at day break. Snow is expected to be heaviest during the morning and early afternoon.
Visibility may be a quarter of a mile or less at times and the weather service says snow-covered roadways will make for hazardous travel. The weather service says to only travel in an emergency and, if you must travel, bring a flashlight, food and water.
Rain, snow and sleet are forecast Tuesday night and rain is expected Wednesday morning.
