Weather Report: Wednesday Is Canceled
The Hamptons weather czar announced late Monday that Wednesday this week, February 5, is canceled due to snow, sleet and rain.
The National Weather Service as issued a winter storm watch for midnight Wednesday through 6 p.m. that day. Before 3 a.m. Wednesday, snow, freezing rain and sleet are expected, turning to snow from 3 a.m. to 5 a.m. After 5 a.m., expect snow and freezing rain. The chance of precipitation is 100 percent. The National Weather Service is leaving no margin of error.
Sleet and snow accumulations of between 2 and 4 inches are possible on the North Fork and in the Hamptons.
Headed into the daylight hours Wednesday, snow, freezing rain and sleet are forecast before 1 p.m., followed by rain until 5 p.m. Snow and sleet accumulation of 1 to 2 inches is possible.
Then on, until 10 p.m., freezing drizzle is possible.
This is in the wake of the several inches of heavy, water dense snow that Mother Nature dropped on the East End Monday.
The Hamptons weather czar advises just giving up.
