Winter Storm Watch Starts at Midnight; Snowfall Predictions Reduced
Despite yesterday upping its snowfall predictions for the East End from 6 inches to 8 inches, the National Weather Service said Wednesday morning that now there won’t be quite as much snow—but still plenty of rain.
A winter storm watch is scheduled to take effect at midnight Wednesday night. Then, mostly after 3 a.m. Thursday, snow is expected, heavy at times. Less than an inch is of snow is expected to accumulate during the predawn hours. Heavy rain is forecast for Thursday morning, with a high temperature near 37 and a northeast wind of 18 to 21 miles per hour. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain are possible.
Both rain and snow are in the forecast for Thursday night, becoming all snow after 2 a.m. with new snow accumulation of 1 inch.
The winter storm watch will be lifted at 6 a.m. Friday, and the rest of the daytime will be sunny and breezy, before a chance of rain and snow at night.
