Bay Street Theatre Launches New Directions Fund to Support New Initiatives
Bay Street Theatre has announced a new fundraising initiative as part of Artistic Director Scott Schwartz’s long-term plans and vision for the nonprofit company in Sag Harbor.
The Scott Schwartz New Directions Fund will allow the Bay Street Theatre to continue to expand and develop its summer Mainstage season, as well as several new programs, including the inaugural Bay Street Theatre New Play Festival, which will kick off in April. A new “Bay Street Late Night” program premieres this summer as does an outdoor “Shakespeare Initiative.”
This new fund will enable us to work together to ensure a very successful 2014, and an innovative and sustainable future for Bay Street Theatre,” Schwartz says in a press release. The program is off to a strong start, thanks to benefactors Pia and Jimmy Zankel’s $80,000 lead gift.
To become a member of the Scott Schwartz New Directions Fund, patrons can make a minimum gift or commitment pledge of $1,000. Depending on the size of the donation, members will be called Associates, Friends, Benefactors, Directors and Producers.
The new Mainstage season begins on May 31 with the premiere of Carey Crim’s new drama, Conviction. For more information, go to baystreet.org.
