Police: Woman Arrested for $21,000 Ring Theft 4 Years Later
A College Point woman was arrested last week and charged with felony larceny in connection with a theft at a Southampton Village jewelry shop more than four years ago.
Police said 40-year-old Tatiana A. Ortega was picked up on an outstanding arrest warrant on February 5 around 7 p.m.
According to police, on the morning of September 17, 2009, Ortega and two others entered Tamara Comolli Fine Jewelry on Main Street and stole an 18-karat white gold solitaire pearl ring, valued at nearly $21,000.
In lieu of $20,000 bail, Ortega was remanded to the Suffolk County Correctional Facility in Riverside. Police added that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement also has an immigration detainer against Ortega.
