Riverhead Farmers Market to Go Year Round, Outdoors
Riverhead’s farmers market, which made its debut in February at the former Swezey’s on East Main Street, was originally going to end its season May 17 but now it will extend year round, taking place outdoors from May 24 through November.
The indoor market is open from 11 to 3 p.m., while the outdoor market will operate from from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the riverfront.
In addition to the farmers who take part in the indoor market, organizer Holly Browder said the market expects to add a few more local vegetable farms for the summer season, including Garden of Eve, Mar-gene Organic Farm and Invincible Summer Farm. The current level of 35 vendors will increase to 50 in the summer.
Browder said that after November the market may move into a different, and larger, storefront on the same street.
