Southampton Village Cops: Riverhead Man Hit Security Guard with Metal Pole
A Riverhead man is being held without bail after assaulting a security guard with a metal pole in Southampton Village, according to police.
Police said that on March 22 at 2:50 a.m. multiple 911 callers reported a large fight that spilled outside event venue 230 Elm at the end of a party.
Jason C. Langhorn, “who has an extensive arrest history, and who is currently on parole, allegedly picked up a metal pole, weighing about 20 or so pounds, and struck a security guard over the head several times, opening up a large laceration,” police said. The guard was taken to Southampton Hospital to be treated by a plastic surgeon.
Langhorn, 32, was arrested April 2 at 1:15 p.m. and charged with second-degree assault, a felony. At arraignment, he was remanded to Suffolk County Correctional Facility in Riverside.
