Southampton Town Beach Guide 2014

Southampton Town Beach Guide 2014

Southampton Town has a number of beaches on both the ocean and the bay that are lifeguard protected, plus there are many drive-on access roads for 4×4 vehicles. Some town beaches require seasonal permits, while others have day passes available. In order to receive a senior or veterans discount a driver’s license, ID card or DD214 must be presented for proof of eligibility.

Through June 20 walk-in to either town hall, at 116 Hampton Road, Southampton, or the parks and recreation office, at 6 Newtown Road, Hampton Bays, to purchase beach stickers. The hours at town hall are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the parks office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Stickers may also be purchased at some lifeguard-protected beaches while attendants are on duty.

Applications may also be mailed. They can be downloaded from southamptontownny.gov.

Permits are required between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. on weekends beginning Memorial Day weekend and seven days a week June 21 through Labor Day. At trustee access roads, permits are required July 1 to Labor Day.

Residents
A beach sticker is $30 per vehicle, valid through June 30, 2015. In order to obtain a sticker, present a valid vehicle registration with a Southampton Town address. If the vehicle is not registered in the town or if it is registered to a P.O. box, homeowners may instead present a town tax bill; the name on the bill must match the name on the registration. Renters must show three different utility bills: one current, one 6 months old and one 12 months old. Seniors only pay $20. Firefighters, EMS and active-duty military are free.

Summer Visitors
For seasonal renters and visitors, a summer permit is $300. Only a valid car registration must be presented. Day passes are $20, though not every beach sells dailies and some never allow nonresidents to park.
