Riverhead Police: Man in Wheelchair Robbed by Four Men, Suspects Sought
A man confined to a wheelchair was knocked to the ground and robbed when leaving the United Methodist Church the night of June 1, according to Riverhead Town police.
Police said the man was going north on Maple Avenue at about 10:30 p.m. and when he approached the railroad tracks at least four people attacked him from behind. After knocking him out of his wheelchair, the attackers struck him with weapons, possibly sticks or pipes, police said. They stole cash and prescription medications then fled on foot.
Now Riverhead police and Suffolk County Crime Stoppers are asking for the public’s help to locate the robbers.
