Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos Developing 'Rated P' Show for ABC Family
Water Mill residents Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are currently developing a new show about parenting for ABC Family.
Based on the off-Broadway musical of the same name, Rated P for Parenthood is a half-hour musical comedy about the trials and tribulations faced by modern-day moms and dads. Ripa and Consuelos will serve as executive producers, along with writer-actress Jamie Denbo (Ronna & Beverly).
Sandy Rustin (I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change) created the original off-Broadway production of Rated P for Parenthood, with additional music and lyrics by Dan Lipton and David Rossmer.
The play’s official description notes, “Rated P…For Parenthood chronicles every stage of modern-day parenting, from conception to college, with giant doses of heart and humor. A versatile cast of four takes the audience through the ups and downs of childrearing—from the sublime to the ridiculous—in a series of comic and musical vignettes in under 90 minutes. Hilarious, fresh, and decidedly irreverent, Rated P provides all the wistful joy of childrearing…at a fraction of the cost of braces!”
Fellow Water Mill resident Jennifer Lopez produced ABC Family’s hit The Fosters, an hour-long drama about a lesbian couple and their many adopted children. Season 2 of The Fosters begins on ABC Family tonight (Monday, June 16) at 9 p.m.
Ripa is also busy promoting QVC’s 2-hour televised live broadcast QVC Presents Super Saturday Live. Airing during this year’s Super Saturday 17 designer tag sale (July 26 from 2–4 p.m.) the show will offer premier fashion, beauty, jewelry, accessories and home items for up to 50 percent off, allowing fashionistas outside the Hamptons to get in on this exciting annual event and help benefit ovarian cancer research.
“Being involved with this event for almost 10 years now, and watching it grow, has been an incredible experience,” Ripa said in a statement, adding, “It is truly a feel-good event because it allows women to splurge and spoil themselves while simultaneously supporting such an important cause.”
Ripa and event founder Donna Karen host Super Saturday each summer, helping bring some 2,000 shoppers to give millions of dollars (a record $3.7 million last year!) to the fight against ovarian cancer.
