Riverhead Schools Recipients of TangerKIDS Grants
Tanger Outlets Riverhead named Roanoke Avenue Elementary School, Riley Avenue Elementary School and Mercy High School as the three recipients of this year’s TangerKIDS Grants. All three schools were recently presented with large checks.
The national program is aimed at supporting the local schools surrounding Tanger Outlets. Across the United States, TangerKIDS supports the communities of the 39 different outlet locations.
Steven B. Tanger, the president and CEO of Tanger Outlets, spoke about emphasis the corporation places on fostering education efforts.
“The entire Tanger organization strongly believes that supporting children’s education is an investment in their future and we, as a company, are dedicated to doing everything we can to contribute in a meaningful way,” he said. “We are proud to once again give back to these remarkable schools in Riverhead and look forward to continuing our efforts to support our children.”
Every year, the TangerKIDS Grants program collects one dollar from each coupon book sold throughout the entire company to go towards the grants. Each center across the country then receives $2,500 to $7,500 in grant money to distribute to local schools.
Grants have traditionally gone towards special projects, programs or equipment needs for local schools. In the past, funds have contributed to new technology, the establishment of reading programs, field trips and athletic equipment. All levels of education, from prekindergarten through high school, can be supported through the TangerKIDS program.
So far, Tanger Outlets has raised more than $1.7 million to donate to local schools through the TangerKIDS program.
