Teeny Awards This Sunday Honors Teen Thespians
The 12th annual Teeny Awards ceremony, which recognizes teen thespians on the East End, will be held this Sunday, June 8, at Longwood High School.
The Teeny Awards, conceived from the idea of Broadway’s Tony Awards, celebrate the best of the best in local high school theater. As the presenter and coordinator of the event, East End Arts strives to raise the bar on theater education by encouraging increased attendance and community pride at school productions. The Teeny Awards are also a chance for the public to relive great performances from the year’s shows.
Seventeen local high schools will be participating, and nominees include students from Westhampton Beach, Bridgehampton and the Ross School. Awards range from best supporting and lead actors in dramas, comedies, and musicals, to outstanding ensembles, best student choreography and playbill design.
This year, the ceremony will be hosted by award-winning radio host Bonnie Grice of WPPB 88.3 FM. The awards will be presented by esteemed community members, theater professionals and arts supporters.
Everyone is welcome to attend the 12th annual Teeny Awards ceremony on June 8 at Longwood High School. The event will start with the Red Carpet at 1:30 p.m. and the ceremony follows at 3 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at the East End Arts’ website: eastendarts.org. Advanced prices are $20 for adults and $10 for students.
