Cops: Pair Threatened East Hampton Jewish Center
After their plane landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport Thursday night, a man and a woman were arrested by awaiting East Hampton Village Police Department detectives.
Police said the pair, Asli Dincer, 44, and ex-husband Melih Dincer, 31, were wanted for making terroristic threats against the Jewish Center of the Hamptons during the past several months. Written threats were sent to the center, which turned them over to village police, according to authorities.
The two Dincers were identified through an investigation involving EHVPD, Suffolk County Police Department and New York State police working with the Joint Terrorism Task Force, police said in a statement.
The police had wanted the Dincers for questioning, but they had left the country.
Now they face charged including making a terroristic threat and first-degree falsely reporting an incident which are both felonies, plus second-degree menacing and fiftf-degree conspiracy, both misdemeanors. They will be arraigned in East Hampton Town Justice Court Friday afternoon.
