Southampton Town’s Parks Department Hosted Snapper Derby on Thursday

Southampton Town’s Parks and Recreation Department held their annual Snapper Derby at the Tiana Bayside Recreational Facility in Hampton Bays this past Thursday.

The fun filled afternoon of snapper fishing was for residents only and sponsored by Hampton Watercraft & Marine, which provided bait and prizes. Local fishing fans competed to catch the most snappers and earn prizes in four age categories, comprising kids ages 5–8, 9–11, 12–14, and 15–adult. There was also a prize for largest snapper.

Nicholas Terry of Hampton Bays caught the most snappers overall with a total of 9, and Nick Giordano of Quogue was awarded the prize for largest fish of the day for a 10-inch snapper.

The winners, pictured in the photo include, from left to right: Nicholas Terry, Salvatore Coppola (Derek Coppola is in picture to accept his brother’s award), Edward Petracco III, Hudson Edwards, and Nick Giordano (Rocco Gurrera is not in picture).
