UPDATE: Paulino Hernandez Identified as Pedestrian Killed in County Road 39 Accident
UPDATE NOVEMBER 14, 2014: Paulino Zeledon Hernandez, 44, died Friday morning after he was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross County Road 39, according to Southampton Town police.
Police said the accident was reported at 6:19 a.m. in the westbound lanes of County Road 39. Responding officers determined that the pedestrian was deceased, and the accident was investigated with the help of the New York State Police accident reconstruction team, according to Detective James T. Mazzio.
No charges were filed against the driver, police said.

A pedestrian was killed on County Road 39 in Southampton Friday morning, and the highway was closed in both directions for several hours as a result.
The accident occurred at about 6:30 a.m. between Henry Road and Sandy Hollow Road. Three hours later, the eastbound lanes of County Road 39 we opened. The westbound lanes finally opened at approximately 10:40 a.m.
The closures effected the stretch of highway between Sandy Hollow Road and North Sea Road, and traffic was detoured.
