Robbery Reported Sunday in Riverhead
A 37-year-old Riverhead man told police Sunday night that he had been the victim of a robbery.
Riverhead police said they were called to 379 Sweezey Avenue at 9:10 p.m. The man reported he was chased into his front yard by two men and pushed to the ground, then repeatedly punched in the face. The two men searched his pockets and took a Motorola cellphone. The victim yelled for help, and friends from the house came outside, police said. One of the robbers pulled out a knife and threatened the victim’s friends before they fled on a bicycle, police said.
According to police, the robbers are decribed as black, in their mid- to late-20s, both wearing black hooded sweatshirts and black jeans. They were last seen headed south on Sweezey Avenue.
