Amy Zerner's Fashion Sense: Become Bejeweled with Rings
Get creative with your jewelry and the way you wear your rings.
I have always worn many rings, ever since I was a teenager. I had special pieces from my great aunt, from my grandmother and from my mother. I loved to gaze at them, and they made me feel especially empowered. I loved that they came from another time and another era. They were magical and meaningful.
If you love rings like I do, try putting on more than one, even try putting several on one finger. It’s about personalized style, making a “statement,” but not in the solo, one-piece sense. Pile them, play with colors and shapes, mix metals, bold and delicate—wear them on every finger and try them at different stations and on any point on your finger. Even your thumb.
The emphasis for many jewelry designers today, including myself, is on creating pieces that can combine in a multitude of ways. The wearer gets to design their own look and combine new pieces with older pieces in their repertoire.
If you don’t want to commit to some of the more conceptual and complicated coiled, pointed or chained constructions that are popular now, raid your own jewelry box or your local thrift store or flea market.
Have fun with it, become bejeweled and decorate your hands and fingers with eye-catching, shimmering rings arranged as a striking collage—they’re sure to be more than a conversation starter!
