'Mom, It's My Wedding!' Debuts in Southampton
The second collaboration between author Ilene Beckerman and Center Stage creative director Michael Disher, the new play Mom, It’s My Wedding! will have its world premiere Thursday night, January 15, at Southampton Cultural Center.
According to the Cultural Center, the play “examines the unexpected pitfalls, pauses and inevitable bonding between mothers and daughters as they plan the most important day in a woman’s life. With tension and humor, Beckerman and Disher explore every bridal choice—and consequence. And the effects upon the entire family.”
In 2013, Disher directed Beckerman in Love, Loss and What I Wore, the play based on her book of the same name. It was her first time stepping into the role of Gingy, and Disher was excited to have the originator of the work in his cast. They became fast friends, and collaborated on Sex: What She’s Really Thinking, a play they debuted at the Cultural Center in 2014. Soon after Sex had its run on stage, the paid got to work on Mom, It’s My Wedding!
Disher directs and the cast includes Brooke Alexander, Linda Aydinian, Daniel Becker, Susan Cincotta, Allison-Rose DeTemple. Holly Marie Dunn, Rebecca Edana,Stephanie Grady, Karin Greene, Tom Gregory, Samantha Honig, Barbara Jo Howard, Joan Lyons, Catherine Maloney, Mitchell Robin, April Schiavonni, Mary Sabo, Frances Sherman, Danielle Shuman, Josephine Wallace and Susan Wojcik.
