Top 5 Revenge-Themed Movies for Revenge Fans
Keep holding on, Hamptonites! Revenge will be back in March. Try and pass the time by checking out these great revenge-themed movies!
Kill Bill Volume 1–2 – A two-part epic directed by Quentin Tarantino and starring Uma Thurman as “The Bride,” a woman who awakens from a coma ready to exact revenge on the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad. Kill Bill is pretty fantastic, with an over-the-top premise and stunning visual style. Takeda would be proud of the cray cray martial arts madness on display.

Payback – This box office hit stars Mel Gibson, a man betrayed and left for dead by his wife and best friend. Based on the novel The Hunter by Donald E. Westlake, this bloody, gritty thriller co-stars Deborah Unger, Maria Bello, Lucy Liu and Revenge guest star William Devane. Fans of crime films and noir will get a kick out of this. There’s also a director’s cut, which features a more streamlined version of the movie by director Brian Helgeland.
The Count of Monte Cristo – The 2002 film adaptation starring Jim Caviezel is a suspenseful and epic telling of Alexandre Dumas’ classic (the book Revenge itself is based on). Caviezel is excellent as Edmond Dantés, the titular count who is framed for a crime he didn’t commit (sound familiar?) and uses newfound wealth and status to exact revenge on the people that wronged him.
Revenge – Madeleine Stowe (Victoria Grayson) stars in this film that shares no connection to our favorite show. Stowe plays a wealthy but unhappy wife (where have I heard that one before…) who sleeps with her husband’s best friend, played by Kevin Costner. The catch? Her hubby’s a Mexican crime kingpin and doesn’t take kindly to buddies touching his stuff. The film gets a little ridiculous toward the end, with a particularly nasty fate for Stowe’s character, so make sure you’re not easily offended.
The Other Woman – Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann, Kate Upton, Nicki Minaj and more star in this romantic comedy about three women who realize they’re all the same man’s other woman. The cute premise unfortunately didn’t live up to expectations, with critics disliking the film, but it was a big box office success, grossing $196 million worldwide. But the real reason you should watch The Other Woman—it was partially set and filmed in the Hamptons!
Five more excellent revenge-themed films to investigate on your own: Sleepers, Momento, Gladiator, Carrie (1976), Léon: The Professional.
Our next Weekly Hamptons Revenge Recap won’t be up until Monday, March 9, after the show returns with its first new episode on Sunday, March 8! Read more Revenge Top 5 lists here.
