Claudio’s Opens April 2 for 145th Season in Greenport

North Fork mainstay Claudio’s Restaurant is opening for their 145th season in Greenport on Thursday, April 2. The restaurant will officially kick off the season with their Grand Reopening Party on Friday, April 3.

The landmark seafood eatery, and America’s oldest same-family owned restaurant, returns with some new menu items and old favorites. French culinary-trained chef Eric Kuna is back for his third year as executive chef at Claudio’s and he’s delivering some delicious new treats to the lunch and dinner menus. Owner Jan Claudio points out Kuna’s Seafood Cioppino—sauteed red lobster tail, jumbo shrimp, mussels, clams, red onion, diced tomatoes, garlic and basil in a spicy lobster broth over linguine—and Goat Cheese Stuffed Artichokes—panko crusted with lime aioli and balsamic drizzle—as highlights among the new menu items, and Thai duck wings among the returning favorites. View Claudio’s 2015 Lunch and Dinner menus here.

Friday’s Grand Reopening Party has become a local tradition in Greenport, Claudio says. “This party is a lot of fun,” she adds, noting, “People wait for it to know winter is truly behind them.” Claudio’s is serving free hors d’oeuvres and beer and wine for just $1.45 from 4–6 p.m. on Friday, with live music by Norman Vincent from 4–7 p.m.

Also new for the first time this year, the restaurant is offering a special month-long print-and-clip coupon exclusively for subscribers to their email newsletter. In April, newsletter subscribers will receive a coupon for 50 percent off lobster dinners during the week (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday). Claudio notes that the restaurant gets their lobster from Canada instead of Maine—”the colder the water, the firmer the meat”—and the horrific winter has led to some of the most expensive lobster prices ever. The e-coupon is a way for the restaurant to help people afford Claudio’s lobster while also promoting their year-round newsletter.

The popular Claudio’s Clam Bar, featuring their new Express Menu with cocktails and inexpensive bar food, will open for the 2015 season on Friday, April 24. And Crabby Jerry’s, Claudio’s self-serve restaurant, will open the week before Memorial Day.
