Indulge in the South Fork's Best Mexican on Cinco de Mayo
There’s less than a week until Cinco de Mayo, so it’s time to figure out where you and your friends are going to indulge in tequila, salsa and Mexican food.
Yesterday, we shared the Dan’s Best of the Best 2014 winners for Mexican food on the North Fork. But we haven’t forgotten the rest of the East End. Here are the Dan’s Best of the Best 2014 winners for Mexican food on the South Fork.
It’s no surprise that the South Fork voted Orlando’s Café, located at 40 Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays as its Platinum winner for best Mexican cuisine. This Main Street staple prides itself on serving food without additives or jar sauces, and it shows in their great dishes. Call 631-728-2608.
La Fondita, located at 74 Montauk Highway, Amagansett, serves traditional Mexican food and has a great, casual atmosphere. With bright, colorful décor and seating that overlooks the pond, La Fondita calls itself “a little slice of Mexico here on the East End.” Try the fish tacos, try the pork tacos, try the beef or chicken tacos—they’re all authentically made and to die for. Call 631-267-8800 or visit lafondita.net.
Blue Cactus, located at 122 Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays, makes up for its small space by serving up large, hearty portions. Try their nachos, margaritas and fajitas and you’ll be hooked. Call 631-728-0000.
La Superica, located at 1 Main Street in Sag Harbor, is a great spot to eat sizzling fajitas and massive quesadillas, enjoy a perfect margarita and take in the historic whaling village and its eponymous waters.
