Seal releases are exciting events for both kid and adult nature lovers—and there’s one this Saturday, April 18, planned by the Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research & Preservation.
At 1 p.m. near the Ponquogue Bridge in Hampton Bays, the foundation will release The Flash, a male harbor seal, back into the wild.
The Flash was rescued on February 22 from the City of Long Beach suffering from dehydration and public harassment, according to the foundation. He has since been rehabilitated.
To get to the release site, head over the bridge toward Dune Road. Make a left onto Dune Road and another quick left, and drive to the end.
