Community Mosaic Street Painting Festival Returns to Riverhead May 24
The 19th Annual Community Mosaic Street Painting Festival, presented by East End Arts, is Sunday, May 24, from noon to 5 p.m. in downtown Riverhead, providing a free day of fun for the entire family.
This Memorial Day weekend tradition typically draws more than 5,000 residents and visitors.
Activities include street painting on Main Street, life-size board games, plus arts and crafts for children as well as dance and music. Local artisans and vendors will sell art and more.
At the Riverhead Town Show Mocile, performing artist Sheree M.C. Elder will host live music and performances. Acts on the schedule include The Tewa Marimba Ensemble from Bridgehampton High School, performing artist MadeyRey, duo Mixed Company, Blue Spruce Cloggers, Fem Fire Belly Dancers, Teeny Award-nominated musical selections and scenes from local high school productions, and East End Arts student performing artists brothers Ryan and Sam Mancini.
The East End Arts drum circle will return.
Several food trucks will be on-site, including Beach Treats Ice Cream and Gelato, Crabman Crabcakes, J&L’s Chicken Fish and Ribs, and Sticky Waffles.
East Main Street will be closed to vehicular traffic between Roanoke Avenue and East Avenue. Festival ativities will also take place on the grounds of East End Arts at 133 and 141 East Main Street.
In the event of rain, the festival will be moved to Monday, May 25.
