Two Armed Robberies Reported at Riverhead Businesses
In the span of five days, two Riverhead businesses were robbed by a man with a gun, and police are seeking the perpetrator or perpetrators.
According to a Suffolk County Crime Stoppers alert, on May 8 at 2:45 p.m. a man entered Barth’s Drugs at 32 East Main Street and demanded money while showing a handgun. He then fled eastbound was an undetermined amount of cash, authorities said. The man was described as approximately 6 feet tall, wearing white sneakers with a black stripe down the center, blue or black jeans and a black T-shirt. Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest. Call 1-800-220-TIPS.
Then on May 12 at 8:16 p.m., Uncle Joe’s Pizzeria, at 12 West Main Street, reported a robbery at gunpoint. Riverhead police said a man with his face covered by a bandana entered through the rear of the pizzeria, pointed a handgun at an employee and demanded money. After being given money, he fled on foot. The robber was described as a black male, 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall. wearing a black-hooded jacket and dark colored pants. Police are asking anyone with information to call 631-727-4500.
