Wölffer Estate Vineyard Debuts New Rosé Grown in Argentina
Wölffer Estate Vineyard has a new addition to its rosé collection: This summer Wölffer presents Finca Wölffer Rosé from Argentina.
This novel wine was produced from fruit grown in their vineyard at the base of the Andes in Mendoza. The 20-acre vineyard in Agrelo-Lujan du Cuyo, which is 4,100 feet above sea level, supplied the special fruit that contributed to the rosé’s production at the Dominio del Plata winery.
Roman Roth, winemaker and partner of Wölffer Estate, specifically selected the component varietals to be grown and made into wine. The Finca Wölffer Rosé consists of 52% Malbec, 11% Pinot Noir, 11% Pinot Gris, 10% Bonarda, 8% Torrontés and 8% Cabernet Sauvignon. Wölffer Estate promotes this rosé’s luminous pink glow and elegant, dry style. Roth says, “The region’s average of more than 300 sunny days a year; arid, high-altitude climate and sandy loam soil are ideal for achieving the balance, ripeness and lively acidity that are the hallmarks of Wölffer Estate’s iconic style.” Only 3,814 cases of the Finca Wölffer Rosé were made.
The Finca Wölffer Rosé will be made available July 1 and will be sold at retailers and restaurants throughout the tristate area.
