Hamptons Collegiate Baseball Steps Up to the Plate to Strike Out Pediatric Cancer
Together with Go4theGoal Foundation, the Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League is working to help strike out pediatric cancer this summer.
The official Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer weekend will be from June 26 through 28 on ball fields all over the East End in an effort to raise awareness and funds for the not-for-profit organization based in New Jersey. During all baseball games in seven communities, HCBL players will wear Go4theGoal’s trademark yellow shoelaces.
Players will also wear the yellow laces at the HCBL All-Star Game being held Wednesday, July 15, at 7:15 p.m. at Baseball Haven in Yaphank.
Several community businesses have volunteered to sponsor the purchase of the yellow laces, raising over $1,000 for the cause.
Go4theGoal Foundation is a nonprofit organization founded in 2006 by Dr. Richard and Beth Stefanacci, soon after their son Richard was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer.
National Pediatric Cancer Awareness Day and Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer are national campaigns Go4theGoal had launched back in 2011. These campaigns give schools, businesses and sport teams an opportunity to support and raise awareness of children battling cancer.
Go4theGoal provides children undergoing cancer treatment and their families with financial assistance, runs hospital-based programs, grants special wishes and supplies state-of-the-art electronics to children and pediatric oncology units across the country.
The HCBL is an organization dedicated to providing inspiring area youth to strive to reach their goals, improving community athletic fields and providing free family entertainment.
